Sunset Clause on Creation of RECs

There is a sunset clause on the creation of RECs for all SGU units installed after 6th October 2007. The RECs for all systems must be created within 12 months of the date of installation. Creation must be within the 12 month period regardless of the deeming period (1, 5 or 15 year).

The Sunset Clause means that any photovoltaic systems that have been installed for more than 12 months will not be eligible to claim any RECs. Installations outside of the 12 month period are not able to claim under 1 or 5 year deeming so will not be eligible for any RECs.

Please do not hesitate to contact our office with any questions regarding the Sunset Clause.

RECs for Solar Water Heaters must be created within 12 months of the installation date. If RECs are registered then they will not expire after the 12 month period. RECs are currently being purchased at $42 each. The value can vary from week to week so you can check the price by contacting our office via phone (03 9845 3000) or email (laura@green-bank.com.au)
