Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) can be created by owners of renewable energy systems because they don't contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.

These systems include:
• photo-voltaic or solar systems
• wind systems
• solar water heaters
• heat pumps

These environmental products are created under the Federal Government Mandatory Renewable Energy Act which encourages the uptake of renewable energy.

One REC equals one Megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity generated from a renewable source as listed above. These RECs or environmental products have a dollar value and are traded in a similar fashion to shares on the ASX. RECs can be paid to you as a Point of Sale Discount or a monetary payment.

Greenbank Environmental is the largest independent REC agent and emissions trader in Australia where we register all brands and system models.
